WHAT TO EXPECT
At Family Tree Animal Clinic (FTAC), we realize the importance of first impressions to show you we care. Therefore, we welcome you to call the clinic at (770) 450-8880 to discuss any questions and/or concerns you may have involving a pre-surgical exam. If you have non-emergency questions after hours, please feel free to email us at [email protected]
All pets must be up to date on vaccines prior to their hospital stay (i.e. Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, and Bordetella).
Schedule Pre-Surgical Appointment: There are two ways to schedule an appointment. You are welcome to call the clinic during our normal business hours or request an appointment online via the link below at your convenience. An online appointment request is not confirmed until we contact you with confirmation of a specific date and time.
Once your companion’s visit is scheduled, please expect to receive a confirmation phone call and/or a text message 24 hours prior to the visit (*additional carrier fees may apply*). At this time, we will remind you of your appointment time.
Day of Appointment: Upon your arrival, expect a warm greeting with the acknowledgement of your appointment time and the reason for your companion’s visit. Please contact us if you will be more than 10 minutes late for your appointment. Late arrival may result in the need to re-schedule your appointment, so that we may honor our committed appointment times to our other clients.
During the Appointment: Your companion will be examined from nose to tail, all findings will be discussed, questions addressed, and a treatment plan given (indicating the services needed, recommendations, and associated costs). At any time, please share any questions/concerns you may have regarding this conversation (i.e. prognosis, alternative options, financial, etc.).
After the Appointment: We will complete the necessary documentation to move forward with the procedure.
Most surgical procedures should be completed by 3pm that day. Therefore, expect a phone call to discuss your companion's procedure, current state, post-operative care, recovery time, possible rehabilitation instructions, and discharge time. All patients will go home with discharge instructions and the necessary medications and supplies needed to assist with recovery.
If test samples are taken during the procedure, the results will typically return within 7-10 business days. Please expect for us to call you with the results and treatment plan during this time frame.
